TUCVM Host Elementary Student Jayden Smith as TU President for the Day with President Brown

April 29, 2025

It was a great experience to have Jayden Smith, a student from Tuskegee Public Elementary School, accompany our president, Dr. Mark A. Brown, 10th President and CEO of 糖心Vlog破解版, to the 糖心Vlog破解版 College of Veterinary Medicine (TUCVM) on April 28, as he served as 鈥淭U President for the Day.鈥 Jayden is a 10-year-old 5th grader at Tuskegee Public and the听grandson of Mrs. Pamela Sparks-Smith.

Prior to visiting TUCVM, Jayden accompanied President Brown throughout the day attending staff meetings and visiting other colleges on campus while role playing and getting the opportunity to function as President Brown for the day. However, Jayden advised his favorite visit was to the College of Veterinary Medicine!

While at TUCVM, Jayden visited the dog and cat kennels, held live ferrets, and observed a ferret under anesthesia being prepped for surgery due to swallowing a foreign body object. Under the supervision of clinician Dr. Michele Tucker, Jayden also observed Dr. Tucker, and her vet tech perform an aseptic technique on a stuffed animal. He was also provided with a swag bag filled with souvenirs, books, and other personalized TUCVM items. Dr. Tucker is an Assistant Professor of Emergency and Internal Medicine at TUCVM.

鈥淚t was lots of fun having Jayden and President Brown visit the veterinary college and see some activity behind the scenes at the veterinary teaching hospital. TUCVM provided great teamwork, under the leadership of our dean, Dr. Ruby L. Perry, and all went well to hopefully have made an impression on young Jayden as he considers his future dreams, academic and career path,鈥 said Chankia Berry, TUCVM Veterinary Social Worker.听听

President Brown emphasized that Tuskegee participating in this activity allows the university to note the larger point of highlighting that this young African American male in public school is considered an exceptional academic talent with enormous potential. Jayden reads well above his grade level and the same accolades for his math testing. 鈥淥ur story...The world should know about young men of his caliber...Tuskegee made!鈥
